Forever Entertainment announce Front Mission 3: Remake for Nintendo Switch 1
The critical classic is being remade for Nintendo Switch on 26th June
A new instalment in the Front Mission Remake series was announced today. Forever Entertainment the developers of Front Mission 1st: Remake and Front Mission: 2 Remakes have announced through their YouTube channel that another collaboration with Square-Enix, the current Front Mission IP holder, will see the light of day. A remake of the highly regarded 3rd instalment will be getting the same remake treatment.
The Polish based developer has previously worked directly with Nintendo to deliver the remaster of Donkey Kong Country Returns HD for the Nintendo Switch. Although questions are raised on why Front Mission 3: Remake is launching as a Switch 1 game without a Switch 2 native port, right now it’s unclear if there will be any Switch 2 enhancements (free or otherwise).
The best in class
Upon it’s original release Front Mission 3, or Front Mission The Third as it’s known in Japan was met with extremely positive reviews and is widely regarded as one of, if not the best in the series. To many this remake might strike fear as the previous games Front Mission 1st: Remake and Front Mission 2: Remake have been met with criticism over control issues and what many believe to be a degradation in art style.
Switch exclusive
The previous Front Missions remakes on launch have all been exclusive to Nintendo’s portable console, the Switch, and Front Mission 3: Remake looks to be no different. Forever Entertainment’s website and socials make no mention of the game launching on other platforms at this point in time, if previous releases are any indication they will release on pretty much all platforms available, unfortunate for those that want to play it somewhere other than the Switch, but it’s hopefully reassuring to know that the game isn’t permanently locked to the Nintendo Switch
